I have gallery2 installed and it has been working great! I'm in the process of migrating my site from Wordpress to Joomla v2.5.6. Nothing I do seems to work. Joomla won't let me put script code into an article or a module. If I put the code into a template file, it works great, but the slideshow is not in the location that I won't. And this solution isn't very flexible.

How can I get the slideshow to run within a joomla article or module? Any help would be appreciated very much!

I've never used Joomla, but seems there was a plugin to allow scripts called Sourcerer or similar.

Or google it.

Installing the Sourcerer extension for Joomla solved the problem.

THANKS!

Hi - I have Gallery3 and have been using the Flash version of the Mini Slideshow in my Joomla 3.5 website. Most of the board members of my club, however, are using iPads and iPods, so would love to use the javascript version, 4.0. I am not sure what I'm doing wrong, but it's not working no matter what I've tried.

I have Sourcerer so javascript will work in a module or an article. I was able to get a "Hello world" going, so I know javascript is working.

I've uploaded the 4.0 mini slide show scripts to a /js/ folder on my website. Permissions are 755, if that makes a difference.

In Joomla, there are sometimes problems using code, so I've got Flexi Custom Code which should allow me to create modules using codes (including Javascript). This is what I currently have in the module: (the {source} tags are required for Sourcerer to work. My gallery3 folder is 'photos'. I apparently need to use double-brackets rather than < >, but I'm not really familiar with their use. The 'hello world' didn't work unless I replaced the < > with double brackets, as suggested in the FAQ for the Sourcerer. If I use the < tags, the text of the script appears on the web page.

I realize you don't use Joomla, and I'm using a bunch of different plugins in Joomla to try to make this work! But if there is anything really obvious that you can see that I'm doing wrong, I'd appreciate any help! My website is at http://www.williamsburgbirdclub.org/ The Flash minislide show at the top is great! My test of version 4.0 is way at the bottom, called "Test5" - just says "Javascript required to view this content."

{source}
[[script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1/jquery.js"]][[/script]]

[[script src="js/jquery.minislideshow.4.0.min.js"]][[/script]]

[[script]]
$('#mini'Wink.minislideshow({options});
[[/script]]
<div id="mini-g3">
<strong>Javascript required to view this content.</strong>
</div>
[[script]]
$('#mini-g3'Wink.minislideshow({
url: '/photos/rss/feed/gallery/album/4',
width: 200,
height: 160,
delay: 6,
link: false,
altlink: 'http://testr.suprsidr.com/m/#18',
radius: '10px',
shuffle: true
});
[[/script]]
{/source}

It's been a long time since I used Javascript, and I only used it a little in classes, so I really am not sure where to put what. Any help would be fantastic!
Thanks in advance.

the most common issue is when jquery is included in the page more than once.
is there a link to your page?

I see many problems including a ton of javascript errors.

Also your rss feed url is wrong it should be
/photos/index.php/rss/feed/gallery/album/4

a good tip for loading jquery only if it is not already included is to call your local copy:

PHP Formatted Code
<script>window.jQuery || document.write('<script src="/path/to/your/local//jquery.min.js"><\/script>')</script>

so you would init the mini like:
PHP Formatted Code

<div id="mini-g3"></div>
<script>
window.jQuery || document.write('<script src="/path/to/your/local//jquery.min.js"><\/script>')
$('#mini-g3').minislideshow({
        url: '/photos/rss/feed/gallery/album/4',
        width: 200,
        height: 160,
        delay: 6,
        radius: '10px',
        shuffle: true
});
</script>

I really appreciate your trying to help. I'm still being dense. I used the code you gave me, but it's still not working. Am I supposed to have other code on the page related to the script? Or was that all I needed.

Do you think all the "tons of Javascript errors" are getting in the way? I've added different modules to this website over the years and don't know how to clean it up. I feel I should start over, but that would be a real pain, too.

<script src="/js/jquery.minislideshow.4.0.min.js"></script>
<script>
jQuery('#mini-g3').minislideshow({
        url: '/photos/rss/feed/gallery/album/4',
        width: 200,
        height: 160,
        delay: 6,
        radius: '10px',

Is there an advantage doing it with the above code rather than the embed code from the embed o rator?

the embed o rator code works fine inside of my joomla install 2.5.9. minislideshow. 4. gallery 3.0.4

However I couldn't get the above code to run. just the spinning load icon. Is it because my gallery 3 is remote? Here is what I tried.

PHP Formatted Code

<div id="mini-g3"></div>
<script src="/media/jquery.minislideshow.4.0.min.js"></script>
<script>
jQuery('#mini-g3').minislideshow({
        url: 'http://www.grantamaral.com/rss/feed/gallery/latest',
        width: 200,
        height: 160,
        delay: 6,
        radius: '10px',
        shuffle: true
});
</script>

The embeded joomla call :

thanks

The embed-o-rator is for the flash version. The quoted code is the jQuery plugin which does not use flash.

Is it because my gallery 3 is remote?

A web browser's cross origin security model does not allow loading content across domains in RSS feeds.
You'll have to use the G3 Cross-domain REST example from the minislideshow 4.0 page.

<script src="/test/js/jquery.minislideshow.4.0.min.js"></script>
<div id="mini-g3json">
    <strong>Javascript required to view this content.</strong>

This was giving me fits! Trying to use MiniSlideShow on a different server from my gallery. Followed the example in this thread, but I couldn't get it to work for hours. Finally, with the help of FireBug, figured out that I needed this URL:

http://96.45.207.30/gallery3/index.php/rest

instead of this one:

http://96.45.207.30/gallery3/rest.

So everything is going along fine, but I can't make a mini for the last album. I had 5 minis on a webpage and it was the 5th one that wouldn't run. So I broke it out into a temporary file, but it still doesn't run. The only thing I can think of that might be causing a problem is that there are only 2 photos in the album. Could this be the problem?

Here's my original page:

http://valleyviewgolf.ca/custom_clubs.html

And here's the temp file I created for testing purposes:

http://valleyviewgolf.ca/temp.html

Help please!

Hmmm, Cannot think of a reason why, but may be. try adding some more items to that album and report back.

I would not have time to investigate until possibly tonight.

So the problem was just having 2 photos. It may even have been having only 2 photos in the album at any time, because I think when I added photos it still didn't work. Not sure, though, as I tried a lot of different things - deleting the album and starting over, adding the photos to a working album and then deleting all but the two I wanted, etc, etc. Solved the problem by adding the same two photos twice (all at the same time), so now it has 4 photos, but only two different photos.

Great little slideshow, btw. Used the other one for many years on a few sites. It does get my computer pretty riled up, though. When I have 5 slideshows running on that one page it's taking up about 30% of my CPU (safari) and gets my fan running on my MacBook Pro. Even with the temp file - just one mini with 4 pics - FireFox was grabbing up to 40% of the CPU. And my MacBook is only about 1.5 years old.

It looks like the target option isn't working.
