Hi @all,

i tried to get use of the SSP Module which you have on your download page.
But somehow it won´t work for me.......

Could you please kindly add where to change what ?
I tried to follow the instructions on your minislideshow, which works perfectly.

Thank you in advance........

Markus,
You must own SSP, and Adobe's Flash 8 or better to configure SSP to accept external xml feeds as its source.

My xml generator is only meant as that external source, I do not redistribute SSP for use with it.

Hi,

I do own SSP, Flash8.
But somehow I was not able, even after reading the SSP Manual carefully to do that.
So any help will be useful.

Thank you....
Markus

ok finaly i got it running. but there are a few open questions.....

1.) How to change the ssp.php script so that a certain resolution is displayed ? Up to now it only displays the "origina" file in the slideshow, not the changed ones in g2 ..... How to tell or how to change the script into loading a specified one ??

Thank you for your reply !

I'm almost ready to release an update with those changes and more.
I need a couple more days.

Great little piece of code so far. I'm trying to replace G2's nasty slideshow with a SSP one and have managed to delve into the necessary template file to replace the URL that links to the G2 slideshow module.

The g2_itemId in the G2 slideshow URL is the currently viewed item, so if that's an image, the ID is that image and not the album that contains it, ie. it would be the album that you would want to show in the slideshow.

http://gallery.menalto.com/node/57230 makes mention of an extra mode=slideShow parameter, ie. http://yoursite.com/gallery2/xml.php?g2_itemId=480&mode=slideShow and I wonder if this then works out the album containing the g2_itemId if the g2_itemId passed is not an album.

that is an old post, all you need to do is retrieve the parent id and pass that to the xml ($theme.item.parentId I think)

or there is a function in ssp.php to do it too.

Ah, yes, I now have it working by using $theme.item.parentId in the theme template:

PHP Formatted Code
{if $theme.item.canContainChildren == "1"}
    {assign var="ssp_id" value=$theme.item.id}
{else}
    {assign var="ssp_id" value=$theme.item.parentId}
{/if}

I then pass ssp_id as the g2_itemId parameter into the XML function.

One thing remaining (which I will look at later today) is to try and detect if I'm looking at an album containing only albums so that the show slideshow link is not shown.

Many thanks - I'll post a link to the site when it's more complete - but I can say that Joomla + G2 + SSP + your XML glue really rocks!

Hi,

I have successfully applied this module for my gallery2 instance and also have made some mods on it to allow multiple albums in the gallery,

however i am having problem playing video files through gallery2.

I have tried and tested different options.

If i create a xml file with the flv file in the direct path then it works

Any help would be appreciated

We've actually experienced the same issue. You see the video load, but it does not play.
I believe we are presenting the flv url correctly as it does load.
I would ask over at ssp's forums to see if they could shed some light.
Since we don't use ssp, I never looked into it further.

Hello suprsidr,

First off, thanks for all the work you've put into the ssp xml generator. My question is this: is it possible to generate the xml code for items that have a rating of x or higher? Also, would it be possible to restrict the search to images within the current album and subalbums that the user is in? I would like to place a mini slideshow of the 20 highest rated images contained within the album and its subalbums on all album page views.

You could use the dynamic album module ie:
http://www.yoursite.com/gallery2/ssp.php?mode=dynamic%26g2_view=dynamicalbum.PopularAlbum%26g2_albumId=49
you can set the number of items you would like returned directly in the module's admin.
otherwise there is a function in there getRating($item) which will fetch the rating for each item, but its not currently being utilized.

suprsidr,

The reason I'm interested in using the ratings module is that I could 'showcase' only the images I want from each album and it's sub albums based on how I've rated the images. If an album contains several sub albums which also each contain sub albums, I would want the module to look through all albums for 5s, and if that generated less than the limit - say 20, than it would search again for the next highest rated images, and so forth, until it satisfies the set limit.

That way, as the user delves deeper into the sub albums, they will always see the top 20 rated images contained within, as a mini slideshow on the album page. Furthermore, the list would always stay current as I regularly add more images - pre-rated. (the ratings module would not be available to users.)

I've been trying to figure out a way of using the getRating($item) function in ssp.php but to no avail (and far less hair on my head). I've even tried the search function for rating=5 but no luck. I'm fairly certain that this should be possible with a slight modification to the code, but have not found a way.

That brings me to this forum, and more specifically, the expert on all things xml/Gallery2.

Do you have any suggestions?

spiderdan

I would start with the getSearchItems function in mediaRss.php that comes with the minislideshow and E2player.
you would also need the getAlbumsRecursive function as well.

then in the childItem loop

PHP Formatted Code

foreach( $childItems as $childItem ) {
    if(getMime($childItem) == $mime){
        $searchResults[] = $childItem;
    }
 }

I would replace the condition with something like
PHP Formatted Code

if(getRating($childItem) == $desiredRating){
    $searchResults[] = $childItem;
}

you would also need to modify the getRating function to return the actual rating instead of an xml node

PHP Formatted Code

if(!empty ($Ratings)){
    return $Ratings[$id]['rating'];
}else{
    return 0;
}

untested but should be a good start.
